BRANDON INSURANCE OFFERs
boat, rv, and motorcycle insurance
Riding motorcycles sure is fun. We want to make sure you are not only having fun but also are aware of the items you need to check off your list before you get on that motorcycle.
Motorcycle liability insurance is not mandatory in the state of Florida. Why should I buy it, you ask?
Florida’s no-fault insurance laws do not extend to accidents involving motorcycles. Meaning that if you are determined to be at fault in the accident, you will be financially responsible for any property damage and bodily injuries to others.
Even though, the insurance is not mandatory, it is encouraged to carry liability insurance to help protect yourself and your assets in case you are involved in an accident. It is also a good idea to request a quote for uninsured / underinsured motorist coverage. Since no-fault law does not apply to motorcycles, if the other driver is at fault and has no insurance, you will have to pay for all damages to you and your bike out of your own pocket.
boat insurance
Boating in Florida can be a bliss with the warm weather and access to boats almost year round. Yet, it can turn dangerous during hurricane season.
Boat insurance is a sort of hybrid between your auto and home insurance.
First of all, we want to make sure you understand that while some homeowners policies might have some extensions to cover some boats these coverages are very limited. The homeowners policy is not designed to cover your boat so do not rely on it for boat insurance.
As auto insurance, your boat insurance provides liability coverage for any damage you cause to others (bodily injuries or property damage). And it also provides coverage for passengers on your boat that are injured while “on premises”, just as homeowners insurance does for your house.
rv insurance
Just as for auto insurance, state of Florida has minimum insurance requirements for RV operators:
- $10,000 Personal Injury Protection - pays for injuries caused to you as a result of an accident, up to policy limit, regardless of who is at fault
- $10,000 Property Damage Liability – pays for damage to other party’s vehicles as a result of an accident where you were found to be at fault
Additional coverages are available, such as Uninsured / Underinsured Motorist coverage and Bodily Injury Liability coverage.
It might be tempting to only purchase the minimum required coverages to save money but the potential costs to you if you were found to be in an accident are enormous. Medical costs are climbing up every year and most accidents end up costing much more then the minimum $10,000 required.
